fell down when they saw the angels so bright and white. Mary visited the grave in the early morning to pour perfume on the Lord. But there was no one in the grave. There was only the clothing in which Jesus had been wrapped.
Soldiers who saw the almighty acts of the angels reported them to the priests. The Priests asked them, “What happened to Jesus? What did you see?”, “We saw a bright light in the night and many miraculous things happened,” they replied. Do you know what the Priests said? They had to regret and repent their sins by saying, “Is that true? Jesus must be the Son of God. We were wrong.” However they gave money to the soldiers and said, “Take it. Just tell people the dead body of Jesus was stolen.”
When Jesus saw Mary Magdalene approaching to the grave, he felt he needed to prove his resurrection before he went up to heaven. “After I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee” (Matt. 26:32). Jesus already announced he would show himself at Galilee after his resurrection. But people could not believe his resurrection, so they went to his grave, not to Galilee.
